MUMBAI: Former India cricket star Ajay Jadeja, who is serving a five-year ban imposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in the wake of the match-fixing controversy, was a relieved man on Wednesday after the Delhi high court gave him permission to play domestic cricket. The Delhi HC passed the ex-parte interim order saying Jadeja could be picked for any domestic match if he fulfilled normal selection norms.
Jadeja, in Mumbai to complete his Bollywood commitments—he has two films on hand, Khel and Pal Pal Dil ke Saath —was delighted with the news. "Cricket is my life; what can be more pleasing than the news that I can play again," the 32-year-old Jaddu told TNN. The BCCI has not yet decided its future course of action on the issue. Jaddu didn't seem too perturbed with the prospects of the board appealing against the decision. "They have been doing that for the last three years. There is nothing I can do to stop it. Unka bas chala toh woh is case ko poore paanch saal (the term of Jadeja's ban) ghaseetenge," he said. "But they cannot stop me from playing cricket."
